This place is a hidden (and I mean literally hidden) gem. It's inexpensive with great Mexican fare.
I just tried this place for the first time. I was at the basketball gym nearby and found this place by accident. I'm so glad that Edmond FINALLY has some authentic Mexican food (not Tex-Mex). All I got was street tacos with asada meat and horchata. The tortillas seem to be homemade. It was so good. The horchata was delicious. Other places I've been to make it too sweet, but the flavor was on point here. I'll definitely be back and am excited to try some of their other dishes.

It's a bold move to display the word "authentic" in your name, but this place meets that expectation and more! Wow, we thoroughly enjoyed every item we tried. The service was friendly and fast and the prices are very reasonable! The food is so fresh and you can also really taste the love and passion that goes into preparing the dishes :) one of the best mexican places in Edmond! So happy we finally have something that's not just texmex!
I brought two of my boys, ages 7 and 5, and they loved their tacos and the chips. They weren't huge fans of the queso and salsa (but I liked it).
If you want authentic Mexican, come to Matachines! They are always warm, welcoming, and unpretentious. Chips and salsa are a la carte and the chips are always cooked fresh when ordered. If you want Tex mex go to On The Border.
Wide selection of tacos, tortas, flautas, etc. and all very tasty! Great selection of Mexican sodas (and American sodas), great salsa and guac... and the atmosphere is pleasant - fairly open, furnished with inexpensive tables and chairs.
