Not very interested in helping unless it is a standard tag agency task. If it involves any critical thinking or problem solving this is not the place for you. Customer service is not a concept high on management's priority list unfortunately.
They will not accept debit cards for drivers license or tag renewals. Its incredible. Absolutely incredible.
After researching it out and finding my payment and paperwork from the last month, they said that the second car I renewed was for someone that used to live in the house I was renting (didn’t know the owner of that car at all). They told me that I must have brought in her insurance policy and renewed her tag for her, because they can’t renew registration without an insurance policy. I stated that I did not know that person, and would not be able to bring in anything regarding their car. I told them that maybe since we had the same make of vehicle, they had simply made a mistake on their end and used my insurance on the other person’s vehicle. I also showed that I still have the renewal tag on my vehicle, and asked why I would register a vehicle for someone I don’t know, and then keep the tag and put it on my car. She then told me that it was illegal to have that tag on my vehicle and I needed to change it. She was not willing to admit that they messed up and registered the wrong car when I came in the first time, and I ended up having to pay a second time to renew my car. Haven’t been back since.
Renewed my tag for one of my cars last year and asked if I could upgrade my second car as well since it came due the next month. The lady helping me looked it up and said that I could upgrade my other car as well. I provided her the insurance documentation for both cars, paid for the tags and left.
I can deal with most anything except lying. They told me they can only accept cash or check because that's all the tax commission accepts... What? I called 3 other tag agencies, all accept credit/debit cards. Hill Tag told me they never heard of such a thing. The owner is clearly stuck in the 70's and refuses to pay the 1% fee for use of a card. If they would have said that, i would have understood. But, instead they lied. Black listed for me.
The next month I received a letter stating that I needed to renew my tag on the second car. I went in again and stated that I had already renewed it last month and had the updated tag on my car already. The lady helping me said she showed that it was not renewed.
I've visited this office 4 times for help with anything from license renewal to purchasing tax, tag and title for a new vehicle. Each time the service has been awful. Clerks are impatient, rude, disrespectful and not helpful in any way. Only one time have I actually left accomplishing what I came to do. This staff needs a training course in customer service and kindness.
